The Turtle Random stuff
MCO
It's Friday.  Normally about now I'd be in the diesel, out on I-4, headed to lunch at Steak'N'Shake in Lake Mary.

Instead, I am waiting for a later flight at the airport. Missed the first one thanks to a large Colombian woman ahead of me in the security line with a passport that looked like confetti, and a TSA droid who seemed to be perusing every old visa stamp in it. Oh, well. I have a couple of hours before the next flight to Baltimore, and I found a nice little open WAP and some obnoxious Sbarro pizza. And Diet Pepsi.

To whoever left the three cases of beer in the Rotunda last night after midnight, three thirsty people thank you. I have no idea what Mr. A, Miss S. and Ms. M actually did with the two cases of Budweiser and the case of Coors Light, but I am sure it went to a good purpose.

The drizzle last night screwed up a lot of people's dinner plans, apparently, for what was originally a coherent plan for all the usual suspects to meet up at Jelly Roll's for one final singalong dissolved into everybody pretty much going everywhere. I did run into lots of friends in various places, and a couple of friends and I closed out the evening at Kimono's.

Remember the entry I posted years ago about the world's worst karaoke, that guy singing "Like A Virgin" that I recorded and put up on the site? No sooner had I mentioned that last night than some guy who sounded like Bob Dylan on acid got up and did... "Like A Virgin."

Worse.

This time, I have video, which is fortunately fuzzy enough that the perpetrator cannot likely be identified. I can't begin to describe it. Except maybe that that thump you heard last night around midnight was the art of karaoke hitting a new low.

On a positive note, the cute and talented Katie, who ran karaoke Monday night, was back and as cute and bouncy as ever.

I got out to the rental car this morning and realized that the yellow backpack was still in it. I'd dumped it in the car after the party Sunday night and never touched it again. I did the sensible thing and stuffed some clothes in it, lessening the risk that TSA would rupture the zippers on my massively-overstuffed main bag.

I'll be actually surprised if my bags are there when I get off the aircraft in four hours. Since I'm going home, I don't actually need anything in it immediately, not even my prescriptions, which I have spares of at home. I may just leave the bags there and pick them up Monday during lunch or something. The diesel is sitting at the shop, ready to go, only eight hundred dollars later. Hhhhhh...

Since I'm still in travel mode, it'll take a couple of days to assimilate everything. If I owe you pictures, I'll email them when I can (probably Sunday night or Monday), particularly the ones I took of a lot of people with Alton Brown at the Closing General.

In the meantime, I guess I'll digest bad pizza and catch up on my normal email. I'll talk again soon.
