Google will provide a way for you to transfer your data from one machine
to another through their servers, or let you allow friends to search for
stuff on your machine remotely. What could possibly go wrong?

Wired reports that Google will be offering a service to slosh the data
from one computer to another, provided you let them let it sit on their
servers for up to a month.
What psycho would ever, ever allow this to happen?
"We think this will be a very useful tool, but you will have to give
up some of your privacy," said Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president
of search products and user experience. "For many of us, that trade
off will make a lot of sense."
What in fuck is this woman shooting up? "For many of us?"
Name me ONE. It might make sense to someone who has just smoked
up a lot (and I mean a lot ) of high-quality cocaine or possibly
mouse shit, but I'm sitting here thinking, who the fuck would do this?
Let me see here... surrender your Fourth Amendment rights against search-and-seizure
and copy all of your data to a large server in a warehouse somewhere. Let
any jack-shit investigator or Federal prosecutor with a bug up their ass
retrieve any or all of said data merely by waving a subpoena or a National
Security Letter in the face
of a quirky but mostly-benign corporation that has already caved in to
political pressure from at least one oppressive government...
Why not just print out the contents of your hard drive, make many copies,
and hand them out free down at the mall?
Why not paint all your emails in large letters on the side of your barn?
Let's get this straight: the only entity you have ever been
able to, or will ever be able to trust with your personal information
is you.
Not your spouse. Or your mother. Or your friends.
Not Google.
And sure as shit not the Bush Administration.
If anyone out there is actually planning on implementing this "service,"
please email me your address so that I can come over and both slap some
sense into your silly head and steal that stash of psychoactive drugs you
must be consuming.
