PermaLink Lotusphere is coming very, very soon01/15/2008 09:38 PM
And I feel like I'm completely unprepared for it, worse than in any other year.  Yes, I'll go and do everything, but I am just being terrible about writing.

Let me get the facts out of the way:

  • The 2008 Lotusphere Swan Boat Races are open and registering teams to race. I came in third last year, and it was hilarious.
  • All the major hotels are way-ass sold out. Don't even bother.
  • It's going to be fairly cool out for the Gonzo Lotusphere and Sunday Night parties. Get a sweatshirt or some other human with a high latent heat that you can hug.
  • Rental cars are remarkably cheap in Orlando this year.
  • The new Italian restaurant in Swan (where Palio used to be) is open.
  • Lotusphere Online is open. You should have gotten an email.
  • Patriots are going to kick serious San Diego ass on Sunday.

I know there's a bunch of other stuff you might wanna know, but I can't remember half of the good stuff and nobody's reading any more anyway because there are now scores and scores of Lotusphere blogs out there.

Anyway, I'll actually be down there on Sunday this year rather than the customary Saturday due to a personal committment up here. I'll catch up with y'all as soon as I get down there. You'll be able to find me at Kimono's later on, probably.

Yeah, good to meet you, Eric! Bike on... hope you enjoyed what I've written about the show, and yes, the FAQ and everything else will be updated this year with the help of some wise friends. It was amazing to see the number of 13, 14 and 15-year people wandering around this year.

There is a lot of information out there this year, but the Gonzo Lotusphere site and FAQ are the model (and are still a standard reference!). It's the first thing I sent to my co-worker who's attending his first Lotusphere. Looking forward to saying "Hi" next week.

Sure, I can change my mind, but that doesn't change the schedule!

Scott, you have no idea how much your updates are being missed right now. Reading your website is how most people in our world get ready (and excited) for Lotusphere! It's just not the same without you.

And how can we have a Gonzo party without The Turtle? I'm so sorry you won't be there. Is there any way you can change your mind?

Not true. Both the Gonzo site and this site are in my RSS reader, and I keep checking each and every day. Not to put any pressure on you.
